Tiers of Cupcakes!

Cupcakes are quickly becoming popular for weddings, bridal showers and birthday parties. This past summer we had the pleasure of creating cupcakes for multiple weddings and events. For the wedding pictured above we did a combination of petite and classic cupcakes in chocolate, coconut, lemon and chocolate peanut butter. On the top tier we did a colossal cupcake for the bride and groom's ceremonial "cupcake" cutting.

Our classic size cupcakes is our medium size cupcake. For events we suggest calculating 1 to 1.5 classic size cupcakes per person. Our petite cupcakes are a two bite treat and we suggest calculating 2 to 3 cupcakes per person. The more flavors you have the more likely that people will eat more than just one.

Go Green Alaska!

Today we got the chance to attend the first annual Alaska Green Fair. We are so happy to know that there are other eco-friendly business in Anchorage! We know how important it is to conserve our natural resources to keep our earth healthy. The green fair was a great way to help educate and inspire people to make small changes for the good of our earth. We encourage everyone to work to reduce their personal impact on the environment.

Below are a few of our favorite eco-friendly businesses in our area that make eco-friendly shopping a little more chic:

Circular - an eco-chic boutique
Sugar and Spice - a children's ecotique
Terra Bella Coffee
Natural Pantry
Full Circle Farm - Organic produce shipped to Alaska

We feel like part of the environmental responsibility is to be diligent care takers of our bodies. By using organic dairy products and buying from local vendors we can ensure that our products are high quality and more importantly do not contain materials that might be harmful to our bodies. We are always doing research to find out how we can take better care of our bodies for optimal health. We have found the following resources to be helpful in our personal food choices. We hope you find these books as helpful and interesting as we did:

DIY Cake Stands

We have no problem eating our cupcakes straight out of the box, but for a party or event we love to create a beautiful dessert display. We are always looking for dessert stands to display our cupcakes and we have found that more often than not we were unable to find exactly what we were looking for. After searching high and low we have found a couple of sites that show how to create your own stands! By following the basic instructions from these two sites, we have been able to create one of a kind cakes stands that we can customize for each event. Not only are these cupcake stands environmentally friendly, you can re-purpose your favorite dishes to beautifully display your desserts!

Follow this link to the Design*Sponge blog to find out how to create the custom cake stands that are pictured above:

At Martha Stewart Weddings we found directions on how to make your own wedding cake stand using beautiful antique drawer knobs:

Below we have left you with some inspiration on ways to use your cake stands once you have polished off the last of our cupcakes! Cake stands can be used to display flowers or candles....No need to store them away until the next time you make a cake (or order more cupcakes!)

Our Cupcakes in Alaska Bride & Groom Magazine!

Our cupcakes were featured in the Winter/Spring 2009 issue of Alaska Bride & Groom magazine! We created these petite Oh, Joy Vanilla cupcakes with butterfly decorations to go with this butterfly inspired table-scape. We hand cut the butterflies out of pink and orange fondant, then brushed the wings with eatible shimmer dust. The cupcakes serve as table decor as well as favors for the guests. What a beautiful addition to this georgous table!

All of the decorations on our cupcakes are eatible and crafted by hand. We can create decorations for holidays, birthdays or custom cupcake decorations for your wedding. Ask us how we can customize your cupcakes to match your wedding color or theme.

Presentation is as important to us as the quality of our products, so all of our cupcakes are tucked into our signature natural bakery boxes and tied with a blue ribbon. A box of our cupcakes makes a perfect gift to a friend or yourself!

Sharing the love...Vegan cupcakes

When we imagine a life without the guilty pleasure and calorie laden goodness of loaded chili cheese fries and ice cream sundaes with real whipped cream, we shudder. We don't want our vegan friends to miss out on any more decadent treats...no one should have to live without the yummy goodness of our coconut cupcakes! A vegan lifestyle takes commitment and dedication; traits that we believe should be rewarded...with cupcakes, of course! All of our cupcakes are made from scratch using the finest dairy products and topped with our signature buttercream frosting....a major vegan "no-no"! We believe in equal opportunity cupcake consumption, so we are expanding our menu to include vegan versions of all of our cupcake flavors. So now people with aversions to dairy will be able to enjoy our "pint-sized" confections!

Here is what one of our recent customers had to say about our vegan cupcakes:

"Having eaten different kinds of vegan pastries and cakes in the past, I personally have always been disappointed with them because of their dense and heavy texture and oftentimes odd aftertastes. I don't know what you're doing differently, but your cupcakes have a springier and fluffier texture that's more along the lines of the standard, dairy-laden cupcakes. Also, the icing was spot on. It wasn't too sweet, but it was flavorful without any of the odd after-tastes I typically experience with soy-based foods. " -SM, Anchorage, AK
